The McKay Brown Round Action Over & Under Gun incorporates the best features of time proven and tested systems. The improved Dickson Trigger Plate Lock is better suited to the Over & Under action than the more commonly used back action side locks for the following reasons:

• The strikers (firing pins) function more closely to the optimum right angle wit the breech face (the lower striker retracts completely on opening, this eliminating primer drag).

• The renowned lock efficiency, combined with the long barrel drop of the Over & Under, facilitates single handed easy opening, with absolutely no creep back. Reloading is faster.

• The creation of a single stable unit incorporating the safety work and both locks with wither double or single trigger mechanism must be considered a distinct advantage over the side lock which has locks and trigger mechanism separated by the wood of the stock.

• Strength has been maximised by thicker action walls, supporting joint pins and replaceable buttresses. We are confident that not only is this the most efficient mechanical design of Over & Under but also the most elegant. The unobstructed view which the shooter has of the top barrel and rib is enhanced by the slender curving fences.

As with the side-by-side it is traditionally hand made in all bore sizes to the highest standard of Scottish gunmaking, it can be constructed to any personal preference of balanced weight, barrel length, boring, rib type and trigger mechanism with a selected oil finished figured stock to satisfy all forms of game or competitive shooting.
